The beauty of the internet is it allows people to express their opinion like never before. Take advantage of this. If you find a WAH opportunity that looks good on the surface, do some internet research before spending your time on it. If the company has screwed even a few people, trust me, you’ll find their rants on the internet. The big question is how you can distinguish between a few people bitching because they themselves didn’t perform and got fired, versus people who were truly scammed. I’ve found that the answer to this is all in the numbers. If it’s just a few people complaining, then I probably have nothing to worry about. If it’s a lot of people complaining, then that company gets a huge red X on my list.

After visiting a number of WAH forums and doing a lot of research about WAH opportunities in general, I came up with two golden rules that I would follow in my quest to find that perfect opportunity. Below is my golden rule #1.
Never, ever, apply for a WAH opportunity where they require a fee up front or upon hiring you. I know when you’re desperate, spending $50 doesn’t sound so bad for the easy job of processing rebates from home, especially when they report that you can earn $200 per day. But think logically for a minute. When was the last time you submitted an application for a job, or went on a job interview, and before you even got started the guy says to you “that’ll be $50 please?” Wouldn’t you be appalled? Well applying for and interviewing for job on the internet is no different. Bottom line…you should never pay for the right to work. My golden rule is that if they require an upfront fee, they are a scam, and the best thing I can do is move on!

Work at home jobs are a perfect way to earn some extra cash on the side, or even a full time income for that matter. They’re certainly not “get rich quick” type of jobs. They’re typically geared towards stay at home moms and students, but are perfect for just about anyone who’s got some pockets of free time. The majority of work at home positions allow for flexible hours where you specify in advance or each week as to the hours you can work. Some even allow you to just logon whenever you want to work, for 5 minutes or hours. Pay for work at home jobs varies greatly and is usually dependent on the amount of experience required for the position. Most of the work at home jobs that I’ve found are those where you work using the internet or at the very least, access your work via the internet.
